Sent a letter dated 4/1/99 which included the following statements:
"The "hydrolyzed protein" ingredient used in most Chicken of the Sea tuna
products is a plant protein derived from rice, casein (a diary derivative), or
soybeans."
"Neither the hydrolyzed protein or the vegetable broth used by Chicken of the Sea
International contain any gluten."
"We still manufacture our Very Low Sodium Chunk White, Low Sodium Chunk Light and
salmon. These products do not contain either hydrolyzed protein or vegetable
broth."
Gorton's
from their gluten-free product list sent 4/22/99. The list had the date of 1/96 on it. The
following comments were included at the bottom of Gorton's gluten-free product list:
"Please be advised that our products are revised from time to time, and the label
should be consulted for the most up-to-date information. It should be noted, also, that
not all of these products are available in every market area."

wheat, barley, rye, oats, millet, or buckwheat. In addition, it does not contain any
derivatives of gluten."
